Gaining Control

People Tend to give this world way too much credit. People see themselves as a boat in a stormy sea being tossed to and fro, completely helpless and vulnerable to the outcome of the situation. However Christians can speak to the seas commanding, "Peace be Still."Unfortunately Christians have forsook their authority that God gave us as a gift and are displaying the same sense of helplessness in this World. Remember Saints We are not of this World. Our circumstances are not limited to the opportunities this world gives us.
Proverbs 25:28 says, He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. The word rule in this verse translates to self control. He that hath no self control over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. What is a city that is broken down and without walls? It is defenseless and vulnerable to anything and any direction the enemy may come from. It has no walls for defense, it is broken down and has nothing to fight with, it is on a level playing field with the enemy without the elevation of walls. A city broken down and without walls is helpless against any attack.
How do we rule or have self control over our spirit?
God blessed us with a free will, the ability to choose life or death. And you cannot become ruler over something unless you have something to rule. So first step would definitely be to receive the Holy spirit and born again nature. (If you have never done that please contact me personally at livin4christ91@gmail.com). Once you have done that you have received a perfect spirit, sinless and sealed with the Holy spirit of promise (Ephesians 1:13). You have obtained all the fruits of the spirit love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control (Galatians 5:22). God has given unto you all of these things as a gift. Not because you earned them but because he Loves you. With this blessing comes a well welcomed sense of responsibility. Because as ruler of your spirit it is up to you whether you so choose to allow these things to govern your life. At first this sounds contradictory. Because if your ruler why does something govern your life? everything from God is a gift and it is up to us to choose whether we accept them or not or really take the time to become familiar with them. Have you ever received a gift at christmas, opened it up in front of the person that gave it to you, gave them a hug and said thank you so much his is wonderful and you put it back in the bag, took it home, threw it in the closet and never saw it again. Thats what so many christians do when the receive the Holy spirit. They accept it and rejoice for a moment but they never take the time to become familiar with it and let it govern their life. These people let the world rule their lives. They have deferred leadership often in laziness to the world. Everyone wants to rule but few want to apply the effort to be a ruler.
But as Men and Women of God we control how much of the spirit we allow to govern our lives. You see God is a man of his word. For thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name (psalms 138:2). And although the Holy spirit comforter, will guide us into all truth, teach us all things, bring things to our remembrance, show us things to come, and so much more, it is up to us to allow him.
